There are thousands of companies offering numerous health insurance plans and there are millions of doctors, physicians and specialist in the U.S. But it is very hard to find out which company covers the most number of physicians.
There are many advantages and disadvantages of a having wide network of physicians. For example, with the largest network of physicians, more insurance premium rates are available. But with the narrow network of physicians, you will have to travel far away to avail their services.
Following are the plans which you will get in the marketplace:
- EPO (Exclusive Provider Organization): in this type, services will be covered only if you use specialists, hospitals or any doctors who fall in the list of the plan’s network.
- HMO (Health Maintenance Organization): normally, this plan will not cover out of network doctors or specialists except those for emergencies.
- POS (Point Of Service): In this plan, you will have to pay less if you use doctors or specialists that belong to the plan’s network.
- PPO (Preferred Provider Organizer): in such a plan, you can use doctors or specialists outside of the plan’s network.
You can also ask for a directory which is available with the Florida Blue agents so that you can have an idea on which company or which plan covers the largest network of physicians. You should also choose the health plan according to your need of physicians.
The main issue is that some insurance companies cover only a few physicians; thus, your basic needs will not meet well. So, you must choose those plans which offer a wider network of physicians with high insurance premium.
If you want to make it simple and if you want to keep your family doctor or any other particular doctor, you will have to choose that health insurance plan which covers that doctor.
